Thousands of years ago in 3rd century B.C there was a saint, Valentine, in Rome. One great day the king understood that married men do not turn out to be proficient soldiers for household bonds and relationships deteriorate them.
Perhaps the most plausible story surrounding St. Valentine and his day is one not focused on Eros( passionate love) however on agape (Christian love): he was martyred for declining to renounce his religion. Consequently, his love for his god might have gone down in history.
The earliest known valentine gift still around today was a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his partner while he was locked up in the Tower of London. The welcoming, written in 1415, belongs to the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England. According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent out each year, making Valentine's Day the second biggest card-sending vacation of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent out for Christmas.) The first business Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were developed in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Howland, referred to as the Mother of the Valentine, made fancy creations with genuine lace, ribbons and colorful images referred to as "scrap".
Cupid, the naked cherub armed with arrows dipped in love potion, beame a popular valentine image. He was related to the holiday because in Roman mythology he is the boy of Venus, goddess of love and beauty.
